Vienna Street Sweeping Begins March 21

The Town of Vienna’s spring street sweeping program begins March 21. During the sweeping season, the Town is divided into eight sections to be covered in the order below.

  • Section I – West of Lawyers Road to Town limit and north of Maple Avenue to Town limit

  • Section II – East of Lawyers Road to Beulah Road and north of Maple Avenue to Town limit

  • Section III – East of Beulah Road to eastern Town limit and north of Maple Avenue to northern Town limit

  • Section IV – East of Glyndon Street and east of W&OD Trail to western Town limit and south of Maple Avenue

  • Section V – East of Center Street and east of Lullaby Lane to Glyndon Street and W&OD Trail and south of Maple Avenue to southern Town limit

  • Section VI – South of Kingsley Road to Cedar Lane and southern Town limit

  • Section VII – North of Kingsley Road, west of Lullaby Lane, south of Tapawingo Road and east of Town limit

  • Section VIII – North of Tapawingo Road, west of Center Street, south of Maple Avenue and east of Town limit

Street sweeping will take several days for each section, depending on circumstances, and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. Town residents can expect to see signage in their neighborhoods a few days before sweeping begins. For more information contact the Public Works Department at 703-255-6380.

Residents are advised not to park on streets during their section’s scheduled time to allow the street sweeper to do a thorough job.

Breakfast Buffet at American Legion

A Breakfast Buffet will be offered Sunday, March 20, from 8 a.m, to noon at Vienna American Legion Post 180, 330 Center St., N. Adults $9, children 12 and under $3. Get omelettes, scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, bacon, etc. For more information call 703-938-6580.

‘Five Percent Day’ at Vienna Whole Foods

Throughout the day on Wednesday March 30 2016 shoppers at Whole Foods in Vienna will be helping two local charities. The more items patrons purchase, the more funds will be raised to support these local missions.

Several times a year, the Whole Foods Market stores hold community giving days (otherwise known as “5% Days”) where five percent of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit. The Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna (SCOV) in partnership with the Committee for Helping Others will be the recipients at this March 2016 event.

GEICO Student Awards Deadline March 28

Washington Regional Alcohol Program seeks contestants for the 2016 GEICO Student Awards. Entry deadline is Monday, March 28.

GEICO Student Awards are annually presented by WRAP to youth-led groups in the District of Columbia, in the Maryland counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s and in the Northern Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William and who are promoting alcohol and drug-free lifestyles to their peers.
