The Great Falls Senior Center (GFSC) speaker for February is Carla L. Easter, Ph.D., chief of the Education and Community Involvement Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). Her topic will be The Human Genome Project. She played a major role in the development of the NIHGRI/Smithsonian exhibition, Genome: Unlocking Life's Code, and its accompanying website, and serves as a liaison to the K-12 and university community as a speaker on genome science and career preparation and pathways. Dr. Easter also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of the District of Columbia department of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The Feb. 2 event will be held at United Methodist Church Doylestown, 10100 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and includes lunch. The event sponsor is the Rotary Club of Great Falls.
