Judy Funderburk, a volunteer who has logged more than 6,000 hours of service to the community, much of it nurturing the Glencarlyn Library Community Garden, is Arlington County’s 2015 Bill Thomas Outstanding Park Service Volunteer Award winner.

Funderburk has participated in other projects in the county. Along the W&OD Trail in Bon Air Park, she rounded up more than a dozen other Master Gardeners to remove invasive plants and plant more than 300 native perennials in their place as part of a meadow restoration effort.
