To the Editor:
Over the last 28 years as your Mount Vernon District supervisor, I have worked with you to make significant positive changes for Mount Vernon by empowering communities and investing in our highest priorities like education, public safety, human services and the revitalization of Richmond Highway. On Nov. 3, the residents of the Mount Vernon District will vote for their next supervisor and School Board member. There are only two candidates with the knowledge, experience and leadership abilities to continue everything we as a community have accomplished over the years. I enthusiastically endorse Dan Storck for Mount Vernon District supervisor and Karen Corbett-Sanders for School Board.
I have worked with both of these highly intelligent, exceedingly capable leaders for many years. Dan Storck stood with me for 12 years as our School Board representative and was instrumental in establishing full day Kindergarten in all Fairfax County schools, fought to fund critical renovations for our schools and made sure we invest in our children’s education. Dan is an elected official and small business owner with a proven track record of success.
Karen has served in many leadership roles for our schools and community. As West Potomac’s PTSA president and chair of the Task Force to Repurpose Old Mount Vernon High School, she has demonstrated an ability to lead and listen. Karen will fight for equity and excellence for all Mount Vernon District Schools.
I strongly encourage all Mount Vernon voters to cast their ballots for Dan Storck for supervisor and Karen Corbett Sanders for School Board if you want the best for Mount Vernon.
Gerry Hyland
