Civil Matter, 700 Block Kingsley Road, SW, Between Oct. 8 at 12 p.m. and Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. The son of an elderly resident reported an employee working for “Donnie Jenkins Tree Service” approached his mother on Oct. 8, and offered his services for work to be performed on a tree in the resident’s back yard. After completing the work the employee requested an undisclosed amount of money for the services rendered, which the resident paid. On Oct. 20, the tree service returned to the elderly resident’s home and offered to fertilize the yard for a fee of $2,000. Her son was suspicious the tree service was taking advantage of his elderly mother and took possession of her checkbook, leaving her no way to pay for the fertilization. Officer Slebonick informed the resident and her son that since work had been completed in the first instance this was a civil matter.

Vandalism, 1000 Block Cottage Street, SW, Between Oct. 14 at noon and Oct. 21 at 1:41 p.m. A resident reported she had frequently found scratches on her vehicle. The vehicle is parked in her driveway, covered with a tarp.

Vandalism, 500 Block Delano Drive, SE, Oct. 15 between midnight and 7 a.m. A resident reported he discovered a small dent on the left rear side of his truck.

Vehicle Tampering, 700 Block Skyline Court, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 7 a.m. Residents in the neighborhood reported six unlocked vehicles had been entered and the contents rummaged through. Two residents stated an unknown amount of cash and other miscellaneous property had been taken. The other residents stated nothing had been taken. These cases are being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 600 Block Manor Drive, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 9 a.m. MPO Nelson was approached by a resident who informed him his unlocked vehicle had been entered and the contents had been rummaged through. Initially the resident stated nothing had been taken. He then realized the black duffle bag found by MPO Nelson (see case number 15- 010066 below) belonged to him.

Burglary/Vehicle Tampering, 400 Block Creek Crossing Drive, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 6:45 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 6 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway. She stated whoever entered the vehicle used the garage door opener to gain entry into the garage and entered an unlocked vehicle parked there as well. Although nothing was taken from either vehicle, several Corona Beers had been taken from the garage refrigerator. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 300 Block Sherwood Drive, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 6:45 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her two vehicles that were parked in her carport. She stated the contents of both vehicles had been strewn about; however, nothing appeared to have been taken. This case is being investigated.

Grand Larceny, 400 Block Nelson Drive, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 6:15 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and had taken her purse. The purse contained miscellaneous credit cards and an undisclosed amount of money. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 100 Block St. Andrews Drive, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 7:15 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her vehicle and its contents had been rifled through. She stated nothing had been taken but was unsure if the vehicle had been locked. No signs of forced entry to the vehicle were found. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 400 Block Creek Crossing Road, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 8:30 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 6:30 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her vehicle, however, nothing was taken. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 400 Block Cynthia Lane, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 8:45 p.m. and Oct. 16, 6:20 a.m. A resident reported someone entered her and her husband’s unlocked vehicles. She stated an undetermined amount of money had been taken. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 600 Block Beulah Road, NE, Between Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 8:30 a.m. A resident reported someone entered his and his wife’s unlocked vehicles. He stated nothing appeared to have been taken. This case is being investigated.

Vehicle Tampering, 900, 1000 Block Country Club Drive, NE, Oct. 15 at 10:30 p.m. and Oct. 16 7:45 a.m. Residents in the 900 and 1000 blocks of Country Club Drive, NE reported someone entered ten unlocked vehicles. In two of the vehicles a wallet and an undetermined amount of cash had been taken. In the other vehicles, although the contents were strewn about nothing appeared to have been taken. These cases are being investigated.

Petit Larceny, 300 Block Broadleaf Drive, NE, Oct. 16 between 2 a.m. and 8:22 p.m. A resident reported someone entered her daughter’s unlocked vehicle. She stated the contents of the vehicle had been rummaged through and an MP3 player had been taken. This case is being investigated. Note to Citizens: Please remove all valuables from an unattended vehicle and most importantly, lock the vehicle doors.

Found Property, 300 Block Sherwood Drive, NE, Oct. 16, 7:15 a.m. Officer Post was in the area investigating one of the several vehicle tampering cases that occurred during the overnight hours when the resident found a jacket in her front yard. She stated the jacket did not belong to her. The jacket will be held at the Vienna Police Station in the event the owner can be identified. Found Property, 1000 Block Country Club Drive, NE, Oct. 16, 8:21 a.m. MPO Nelson responded to the area after an unknown citizen reported finding a black duffle bag in the yard. MPO Nelson was able to determine the owner of the bag and returned it to them.

Vehicle Tampering, 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE, Oct. 16, 1:21 p.m. A resident reported that during the overnight hours her two vehicles had been entered and the contents rummaged through. She stated nothing appeared to have been taken. This case is being investigated.

Police Service, 400 Block Lewis Street, NW Oct. 16, 4:54 p.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in unwanted ammunition for destruction.

Arrest – Narcotics Violation, 500 Block Nelson Drive, NE, Oct. 16,11:17 p.m. PFC Tracy was on patrol when he observed a suspicious vehicle in the area. Upon his approach to the vehicle he detected the distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After his interaction with the driver and his three passengers he located a measurable amount of marijuana. PFC Tracy issued summonses for Possession of Marijuana to the 20 year old man from Weber Street in Annandale, Va., a 20 year old man from Bowling Green Drive in Vienna, a 19 year old man from Cascus Drive in Annandale, Va. and a 24-year old man from Olivine Court in Silver Spring, Md. All four individuals were released after signing their respective summonses.

Arrest - Trespassing, 200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE, Oct. 17, 12:12 p.m. Officer Post responded to the area after receiving the report of an individual inside an apartment who had been previously banned from the property. Upon arrival the 20 year old man from Stefan Drive in Dunn Loring was located and issued a summons for Trespassing. He was released after signing the summons.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated, 400 Block Cynthia Lane, NE, Oct. 17, 1:24 p.m. Officer Post responded to the area after receiving a report of a hit and run. The driver of the vehicle that had been struck had been traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue, when the driver of a vehicle pulled out of the Giant Food parking lot and collided with his vehicle. The striking vehicle continued on without stopping. The driver of the vehicle that was struck followed the hit and run vehicle to a residence on Cynthia Lane. Officer Post located the driver and after her interaction she determined she may have been impaired. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests she arrested the 59 year old woman from Cynthia Lane, NE in Vienna for Driving While Intoxicated. The woman was taken to the Vienna Police Station where she was given the opportunity to provide a sample of her breath for analysis. After the analysis she was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (3rd Offense) and held without bond.

Vandalism, 500 Block Lincoln Street, NW Between Oct. 17 at 11 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. A resident reported her mailbox had been knocked from its post.

Suspicious Event, 300 Block Owaissa Road, SE, Oct. 18, 11:41 a.m. A resident reported her mother was home alone and heard the back door open and close twice, however, no one entered. There was no evidence that anyone entered the residence and nothing was disturbed.

Grand Larceny, Giant Food Store 359 Maple Avenue, East, Oct. 18, 11:50 a.m. An employee reported someone had taken her wallet while she was setting up a display table at the store. She contacted her credit card companies and was informed fraudulent charges had been made against the credit cards. This case is being investigated.

Destruction of Property, 900 Block Lullaby Lane, SE Between, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 12:23 p.m. A resident reported the rear windshield of her son’s vehicle had been shattered. This case is being investigated.

Police Service, 900 Block Ware Street, SW Between, Oct. 18 at 10 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 7:07 a.m. A resident reported the driver side front window of his vehicle had been damaged. The damage was consistent with being hit by a small rock.

Arrest – Narcotics Violation, Park Terrace Court, SE, Oct. 19, 12:19 p.m. MPO Smith responded to the area for the report of a domestic dispute involving a boyfriend and girlfriend. Upon arriving he located the boyfriend leaving the apartment. After speaking with him he was given consent to enter the apartment to ensure the girlfriend, who had left, was safe. While inside the apartment MPO Smith observed a measurable amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. The 20 year old man from Park Terrace Court, SE in Vienna was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana and released.

Found Property, 100 Block Oak Street, SW, Oct. 19, 6:56 p.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a wallet he found in his rental vehicle. Officer Slebonick contacted the owner of the wallet who will make arrangements to pick it up the next time he is in the area.

Suspicious Person 15-010206 200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE, Oct. 20 10:12 a.m. An employee of a cleaning company reported a resident had been continually harassing her by complaining about her cleaning ability and taking pictures of her employees. She stated she wanted to have a report on file and will speak with her attorney.

Arrest – Drunk in Public/Falsely Summoning Police, The Wolf Trap Hotel, 430 Maple Avenue, West Oct. 20, 4:26 p.m. A guest of the hotel called 911 to request a taxi take him to Arlington, Virginia. Officer Tremont responded and spoke with the visibly intoxicated individual who confirmed he called 911 to request a ride. Officer Tremont informed him calling 911 to request a taxi was not an acceptable reason to call 911. The individual agreed and stated he would stay in his room until he was sober enough to leave. Approximately five minutes later Officer Tremont was informed the individual had again dialed 911 and requested another ride. Officer Tremont responded back to the Wolf Trap Hotel and spoke with the individual who again requested a ride to Arlington. Officer Tremont was unable to grant his request for the ride to Arlington; however, he was able to provide him with a ride to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. After arriving the 64 year old man from North Nash Street in Arlington, Virginia was charged with Drunk in Public and Falsely Summoning the Police. He was to be held until he was sober.

Animal Case, 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE, Oct. 21, 7:54 a.m. A resident reported a deer had become entangled in their fence. Officer Post responded and found the deer to be severely injured and could not be saved.

Suspicious Person, Marco Polo Restaurant 245 Maple Avenue, West, Oct. 21, 12:34 p.m. A citizen reported a white male was observed looking into vehicles that were parked behind the Marco Polo Restaurant. Officer Post along with other officers responded and were unable to locate the individual.

Suspicious Event, 100 Block Patrick Street, SE, Oct. 21, 7:15 p.m. A resident reported that while she was taking a shower she heard a noise in her apartment and saw the doorknob on the bathroom door move. The resident locked herself in the apartment and telephoned her mother and the police. The resident’s mother stated when she arrived the front door was locked and nothing in the apartment appeared to have been taken. The resident stated approximately six months ago an unidentified man entered her apartment using a key. Officer Hylinski suggested she contact the rental office and have the lock changed.

Crashes

400 Block Maple Avenue, West, Oct. 16, 3:46 p.m. The drivers of two vehicles were traveling westbound on Maple Avenue, West in adjacent lanes. The mirror on the vehicle being driven in the center turn lane struck the vehicle stopped in the rightmost lane.

300 Block Maple Avenue, East, Oct. 17, 1:24 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue, East. The driver of the second vehicle was exiting the parking lot of the Giant Shopping Center and collided with the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene but was located at her residence and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (3rd Offense). See Case Number 15-010129 above for details.

Maple Avenue at Park Street, SE, Oct. 19, 6:51 a.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue, SE. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue and attempted to turn left onto Park Street, SE and collided with the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Maple Avenue near Mill Street, NE, Oct. 20, 1:30 p.m. The drivers of two vehicles were traveling westbound on Maple Avenue, NE in adjacent lanes. The driver of the vehicle in the far right lane attempted to change lanes and collided with the vehicle in the left travel lane.
