To the Editor:
Re-elect Delegate Kathleen Murphy so she can go back to the General Assembly and continue to push for common sense gun safety laws. McLean residents are shocked that the state allows gun stores next to elementary schools. Kathleen Murphy is all too familiar with Virginia’s cavalier attitude about guns and she is ready to work to reduce gun violence. She started last session by authoring a bill that would keep guns out of the grips of those convicted of domestic abuse – for just two years – especially important because the best predictor of future abuse is past abuse. That bill died in Committee; looks like the majority is more sympathetic to the gun rights of violent offenders than to the safety of victims of domestic violence.
