Sheila Rietano, a senior at The Potomac School, has signed her national letter of intent to play Division I lacrosse for Boston College. She becomes the school’s third student-athlete in the last five years to commit to play Division I lacrosse (Laura Persinski '15, Villanova; and Lauren Wackerle '12, Yale).

Rietano, who still has her senior season to play at Potomac, has recorded 189 goals and 39 assists playing attack and midfield for the Panthers. During Rietano’s sophomore season, her 80 goals helped the girls lacrosse team claim the Independent School League (ISL) regular season and tournament titles in the A division. For the past two seasons, she has earned ISL Division A All-League, ISL Division AA All-League, Division I All-State, and Washington Post All-Met honors for her play; last spring, Rietano was named an All-American, the school’s first for lacrosse since 2011.

She is eager to bring her skills to a Boston College team that finished last season with a record of 15-3 and was ranked #5 in the country. “Boston College is an excellent school with a great lacrosse program,” Rietano says. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the team and playing alongside some very talented athletes.”
