Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire on Feb. 18, at approximately 8:30 p.m., in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9005 Chickawane Court.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the front porch of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. The damage was contained to the outside of the home. The occupants were not displaced. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $5,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire was improper disposal of smoking materials on the porch.
