Alice June Atkinson Higgins died on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born June 13, 1929 in Spotsylvania County, the eldest daughter of Anna Mae and Milton Francis Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Lee Sanford Higgins, and by her brothers Robert, George, Roscoe and Daniel.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Higgins Brock and son-in-law Steven, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and by her son, Ronald L. Higgins and daughter-in-law Patricia, of Gordonsville. Grandchildren include Heather Brock Harris (Dean) of Las Vegas, Jason Lee Brock (Amy) of Atlanta, Ga., Katherine Higgins Hosey (Lance) of Washington, D.C., and John Sanford Higgins (Lisi), of Baltimore, Md., as well as five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Surviving sisters and brothers are Bernice Thompson (Tom), Lillian Morrison, Ruby Merriman (John), William (Juanita), Raymond (Ann), and Benjamin (Gloria), all of Fredericksburg, and Elizabeth Ridgeway (Ashby) of Alexandria.
A family graveside service will take place on Friday, June 26 in Alexandria. Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville is in charge of arrangements.
