Less than a week after the opening of a new Wegmans grocery store in Alexandria, the Landover, Maryland-based Giant Food is answering with an all-new store in the Kings Park Shopping Center, set to open at 6 a.m. on Friday, June 19.
“We are delighted to bring a brand new 50,000-square foot store to Kings Park, which offers an enhanced shopping experience to our customers in Burke,” Gordon Reid, president of Giant Food, said in a statement.
The new store will employ about 120 people, feature pollution-reducing carbon dioxide refrigeration technology and pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the United States Green Building Council.
Giant has announced it will donate $2,500 to the Braddock Road Youth Club at a private ribbon-cutting event.
The Kings Park Giant Food is located at 8970 Burke Lake Road in Springfield.
