Pedestrian Hurt in Reston

A 47-year-old Fairfax man was seriously injured while crossing Sunset Hills Road in Reston on Friday, Nov. 27, according to Fairfax County Police reports. The pedestrian was struck by a 2011 Chevy Impala driven by a Reston man.

The pedestrian was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life threatening injuries. On Monday night, Nov. 30, he was still in the hospital in critical conditions, said Lucy Caldwell, spokesperson with the Fairfax County Police.

The driver was not injured, and remained at the scene, according to police reports.

The man was walking eastbound on the sidewalk of Sunset Hills Road prior to Isaac Newton Square West at around 10:50 a.m. when he stepped into the road to cross.

Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash. No charges were made, according to police reports.

The investigation is continuing, said Caldwell.
