The New Dominion Women’s Club held its annual “Arts Night Out” on Friday, April 24 at the McLean Project for the Arts in the McLean Community Center. The fundraiser, expected to raise $2,000, will benefit MPA, and McLean organizations Safe Community Coalition, Claude Moore Colonial Farm and SHARE, Inc.
Items for the silent auction were donated by members and businesses and included red wine baskets, a weekend getaway at the Bryce Resort, a gardening package and many more items and services.
“McLean Project for the Arts is absolutely delighted to have the New Dominion Women’s Club here. It provides an opportunity for everybody to learn about art and enjoy it,” said MPA executive director Susan Corrigan.
Guests, such as Del. Kathleen Murphy (D-34), were greeted by Marilyn Banner’s encaustic paintings as they walked up the ramp, followed by Jill Parisi’s work at the Atrium Gallery. They were surrounded by David Carlson’s video installation “Water Unspoken” at the Emerson Gallery, where refreshments and auction items were presented.
The New Dominion Women’s Club was established in 1968 in McLean to help charities and promote fellowship among women. Its mission is to support and cultivate the civic, cultural, educational and environmental welfare of the community through volunteer service and financial support.
