True innovation begins when dreamers finally decide to give
substance to their ideas. Leonardo da Vinci once said, “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.” The distinguished artist and inventor brought unparalleled creativity to science with his unique interpretations of the natural world. His prominent creations
were products of a dreamer who took initiative. Leonardo da Vinci is the epitome of a creator; through his diversified and extensive studies in math science, engineering, art and literature he was able to create timeless marvels that continuously inspire inventors today.
Kashmir World Foundation would like today’s generation to engender Leonardo Da Vinci’s remarkable initiative. The non-profit organization believes that anyone can contribute to the world by taking the first step to be a pioneer just as da Vinci once did. Through collaboration and innovation, Kashmir World Foundation created the DaVinci Challenge: Build a Drone workshop by utilizing art, science, and technology.
Students will have the opportunity to give wings to their ideas, and with a little artistic talent, drones can be created to mimic birds, bats, bees, butterflies and more in flight.
In just two months, the DaVinci Challenge: Build a Drone workshop has attracted the interest of many beyond the gates of Great Falls.
Releasing in October 2014, National Geographic filmed a
documentary on the Summer workshop which also featured special guests from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). With the growing participation and awareness of the imminent drone age, embracing drones through innovation is an incredible
opportunity for students to gain a hands-on learning experience and exposure to the future of our world. Kashmir World Foundation recently partnered with Microsoft who will be hosting the DaVinci Challenge: Build a Drone workshop this Fall at the Microsoft store in Tysons Corner Center. With only 10 spots remaining, the Fall workshop begins Oct. 2 and will offer the specialty option of building either a hex-copter or a quad-copter.
