To the Editor:
Harris Teeter is a great addition to our community. They are a
"neighborhood shopping experience." However, in Old Town where historic
appearance is so important, why does Harris Teeter need a 2-foot neon
red sign? The homeowners all get cautioned that the mullions we want to
replace in our windows may be not the right size, but the businesses can
put neon on the front door. i have noticed this as a trend with A&M,
Harris Teeter and other commercial establishments over the years
creeping in with bigger and bigger tacky signs. Nantucket, Savannah &
Charleston keep their commercial signs minimal. Old Town should as well.
Welcome, Harris Teeter, but please minimize your signs.
