Dancing for a Cause at Colvin Run

A fundraiser on Saturday, June 21, at Colvin Run Community Hall will feature dance lessons from local instructors including Ed Cottrell, Gail Crum and Erica Smith. The day-long event, part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s worldwide The Longest Day fundraiser, will benefit Alzheimer’s disease research. Attendees are invited to join Colvin Run’s team, Step and Swing for Elaine, in memory of local dancer Elaine Krawitz. The team has surpassed its $10,000 fundraising goal, having raised nearly $13,000 at press time. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and will feature refreshments and silent auctions. The team suggests a donation of $40 for the whole day or $15 for one activity. At 8 p.m., following the last lesson, the hall will host its Third Saturday Ballroom Dance for a separate $15 fee.
