Tonya Cox, who has worked in Fairfax County Public Schools for 23 years, began her role as principal of Laurel Ridge Elementary School in Fairfax on July 1. Cox, a long-time Fairfax County resident, previously worked in the central office of Fairfax County Public Schools and as a principal at Gunston Elementary School.
A graduate of Groveton and West Potomac High Schools, Cox said she is looking forward to getting to know staff and students at the school this year, and is excited to be returning to a position where she can impact children directly.
“Laurel Ridge is a great place. I’m looking forward to making connections with the students and teachers here,” Cox said.
