This year’s 35 “Apple Scholars” were selected from over 400 applications that were reviewed by a committee of 30 judges from the Apple Federal Credit Union (FCU) membership community. The foundation selected students who demonstrated a commitment to helping their school and/or community. Each student received a $4,000 scholarship at a gala breakfast celebration on Thursday, May 23. Apple Federal Credit Union’s dedication to the advancement and impact of education in the Northern Virginia community was heightened in 2013 thanks to the institution’s philanthropic arm, the Apple FCU Education Foundation. Scholarships totaling $140,000 were awarded by Apple FCU to a total of 35 high school seniors from nine counties.
