The Arlington County Police Department’s Burglary/Larceny Unit is investigating a suspect involved in several credit card thefts and is seeking additional victims.
The suspect, Barry Jason Fig, was charged on March 27, in Montgomery County with five counts of felony credit card theft related to thefts that occurred at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex during March 2013.
Recreational hockey players would leave their equipment bags in an assigned locker room before going out to the rink to play hockey. The suspect was captured on video at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, walking around carrying an equipment bag and hockey stick. He entered unattended and unlocked locker rooms and would steal items from equipment bags. The thief would then use victims’ credit cards to make purchases at retail stores. During his arrest, police found several credit cards in the suspect’s possession that did not belong to him. Many of these credit cards belonged to victims from Kettler as well as other area ice rinks.
Fig currently has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 3. He has also been charged with similar crimes in Fairfax County. Information revealed in the investigation indicates that there are potentially other victims or persons with information regarding this subject.
