— Choreographers Collaborative Project held a spring concert “Dance Around Alexandria” in the auditorium at T.C. Williams High School on Saturday, March 16. The concert was inspired by public art pieces and public locations in Alexandria. Some dances were choreographed to be site-specific, such as the sculpture Brio in Market Square and the King Street Gardens Park, and others were inspired by a public art work, such as Truths That Rise From the Roots in the African-American Heritage Park. Students from CCP's youth program as well as T.C. Williams High School Modern Dance Society also performed. The concert was part of CCP’s season's project, "Dance Around Alexandria," creating and performing dances inspired by public art and spaces in Alexandria. This project was funded in part by the Alexandria Commission for the Arts.
