Troop 1906 Gains Its First Eagle Scout

— Emmanuel Karem Edward Lewis, the youngest son of David W. Lewis and Merriam Uplay-Lewis, is the first Eagle Scout for Boy Scout Troop 1906, co-chartered by Bethlehem Baptist Church and in conjunction with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, XI Alpha Lambda Chapter.

Emmanuel's Eagle Scout Project was a beautification project in the Mt. Vernon Lakes community in Alexandria. He replaced shrubbery with 13 new Knock Out Roses with the support of family, friends and the community.

Emmanuel is a senior at Thomas Edison High School. He has a 4.00 grade point average, taking primarily International Baccalaureate courses, and is vice-president of the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. He works part time at Crest Cleaners in Kingstowne Shopping Center.

Emmanuel plans to pursue a career in international relations or international business and plans to apply to the University of Virginia, Princeton University, among other colleges and universities.

This is the second Boy Scout Eagle in the Lewis family as Emmanuel's older brother, Daniel also attained the highest rank in Boy Scouts.

Troop 1906 meets every Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church church parsonage,

located at 7836 Fordson Road, Alexandria. The troop is looking for new members ages 11-17 years of age, who want to have fun and adventure, gain leadership experience, and learn how to handle life’s challenges and responsibilities. Parents are welcome to be trained leaders or to volunteer to support the Scouting activity.
