ArtSpace Herndon and the Council for the Arts of Herndon have chosen 60 photographs to appear in the third annual Herndon Town Calendar Photo Competition. Forty professional and amateur photographers submitted entries to the competition.
The selected photos for the 2014 Herndon Town Calendar will be on exhibit from Tuesday, July 9, through Sunday Aug. 4 at ArtSpace Herndon in the Post Gallery. Winners of the competition and the People’s Choice Award will be announced during the reception on Saturday, July 27, from 7-9 p.m. The winning photographs will be published in the Herndon 2014 Calendar and Town Services Guide.
All photographs were taken within the corporate limits of the Town of Herndon. Many of the entries depict people participating in seasonal or community events.
Local photographers Carla Steckley and Lee Love evaluated the photographs submitted to the competition and selected the finalists. Photographs by Steckley and Love will be exhibited in the Sapphire Gallery.
The mural pictured in "Paint the Sky" was commissioned by the Council for the Arts of Herndon. The mural, entitled "Virginia’s Vistas" is by Keith Naquin.
The gallery and reception are free and open to the public. Visit www.ArtSpaceHerndon.org for gallery hours, location, and exhibition schedule.
