Jennifer Conner and Huyen / Helena Nguyen, of Centreville High School, have accepted honors scholarships awarded by Northern Virginia Community College. The scholarship covers the cost of the student earning one degree at the college. Scholarship winners are enrolled in NOVA’s honors program.

Three graduating students at the University of Virginia – Alex Zorychta, Shaun Moshasha and Rachel Smith have already won the top prize of $20,000 at this year’s U.Va. Entrepreneurship Cup for their work with the Whooping Cough and took regional honors at an international genetic engineering competition. The team, is also a finalist for a $100,000 Coulter Translational Research Grant, which U.Va. awards annually in June to help translate research into commercial products. The process will require at least three to five years.
