Manny and Ruth Hershkowitz will celebrate 70 years of marriage on Thursday, April 4. Ruth is 91 and Manny turned 96 on Tuesday, April 2, two days before their anniversary. The two recently moved to Ashby Ponds retirement community in Ashburn, Va., and were Reston residents for 30 years prior. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Manny worked in the fur market and Ruth was a schoolteacher. The two moved to Virginia to help take care of their oldest son’s children. They have three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Manny holds a Guinness World Record as the oldest ball boy in history; he worked the US Open at Flushing Meadow, N.Y., in September of 1999 at the age of 82.
