Deadline for Nominations for Leadership Awards

Leadership Fairfax (LFI) will present its annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards at the NVLA Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The NVLA Awards is the premier forum in Northern Virginia to celebrate leaders who make a difference in the community.

We invite you to participate by nominating an individual, non-profit, or corporation that exemplified community-wide leadership during the 2012 year. Nominations may be made via the Leadership Fairfax website at www.leadershipfairfax.org/nvla and are due by COB Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012. Details about each award are on the website.

Keller Williams to Host Downsizing Seminar

Outstanding Citizen Award

The Rotary Club of Great Falls is now accepting nominations from organizations and the general public. Nominees must reside in Great Falls, have made a difference in any aspect of life anywhere in the world and be sponsored by two Great Falls residents. Sponsors must submit a written jurisdiction for why their nominee deserves to be recognized as an unsung hero who exemplifies service to others before self. Nominees must not be a member of the Rotary or lead a similar community service organization.

Nominees must agree to attend a local award ceremony if chosen. The winning candidate will be selected by Great Falls Rotary and other civic leaders. The winner of the Great Falls award will qualify for consideration of additional Rotary awards.

Langley High to Perform at the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl

WorldStrides Heritage Performance programs has invited the dance and cheer team from Langley High School to perform at the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl. They will join dance, cheer, and drill teams from across the country in the halftime show finale of this major college bowl game.

Under the direction of Ellen Johnson, the Langley High School team will travel to Miami, Fla., where they will rehearse with nationally acclaimed choreographers.

Johnson has been teaching for 9 years and will be personally leading the Langley High School group of 21 students to Miami. Johnson is excited to have the opportunity to travel to the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl on a WorldStrides Heritage Performance program.
