The Langley High School Orchestra presented "Spirited Away: A Celebration of Asian Culture and Music" to a full house on Oct. 25. Music played by the five orchestras included compositions from Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, India, and Singapore. Guest performers included Nen Daiko (Traditional Japanese Taiko Drum Ensemble), Indian dancer Pallavi Rudraraju, the Asian American Arts Center (Korean Jang-goh Drum Dance), and the new student rock band, "Eastward Bound." Many members of the orchestra and audience wore the traditional garments of their native country. An Asian Festival prior to the concert featured food from different countries and exhibits representing China, India, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. The next concert will be on Dec, 11, at 7 p.m. in the Langley HS Auditorium.
