Alexandria — The Twig Thrift Shop located at 106 North Columbus St., Old Town Alexandria mounts its “Fall Haul Extended Hours Sale," with a kick off on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, Oct 28. In addition to regular store hours (9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) the shop will be open extended evening hours on Thursday, Oct. 25, and Friday, Oct. 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., regular Saturday hours 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and extended hours on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit Inova Alexandria Hospital.
Over the past 80 years, the Twig has contributed funds for hospital equipment and services have spanned an x-ray machine in the 1930s to a neo-natal monitoring system, a dedicated stroke care unit, infusion treatment rooms in the Cancer Center, and a $25,000 nursing scholarship. With the Twig's financial support, Twig Pavilion, a 16-private bed telemetry unit opened in 2005, and in October 2011, The Twig Surgical Center opened for post surgical patients, recently a new nursing scholarship has been established.
