Bach to Rock to Open in Herndon
Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, will celebrate the opening of the new Herndon location on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The new school is located in the Worldgate Centre at 13009 Worldgate Drive. During the grand opening celebration B2R will host an open house where visitors can watch B2R student performances and experience live demonstrations of classes offered. The new Herndon location accommodates not only a school, but B2R’s first hands-on franchisee training facility to provide both new and existing franchise owners with cutting-edge training and support.
“We’re excited to finally begin making musical moments at our new home at the Worldgate Centre,” said Adam Carluccio, site director of B2R Herndon. “Our staff of musically-trained experts is ready to lead the young talent of Herndon down the pathway to success by teaching them the fundamental values of music.”
The new 4,000-square-foot Herndon facility has the very latest in technology, computer and software availability and traditional instrumental instruction. Students will be trained on the B2R method as they work together in teams to build their self-esteem and motivate one another to stay committed to developing their music skills. The school also features Beat Refinery, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier DJ school dedicated to teaching every aspect of the craft, combining traditional methods with the latest technology for aspiring DJs.
Race to Rid SIDS to be Held Oct. 13
The Playmates in Heaven Foundation are slated to hold the first Race to Rid SIDS 5K Run/Walk & 1K Little Angels Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 13. at Oak Hill Elementary School in Herndon. There will be an estimated 400-plus race participants and 100 children in the Fun Run. The event is planned to be family friendly. There will be entertainment and children’s activities before, during and after the race to include music, snacks, awards, children’s face painting, moon bounces and balloon animals. Online registration is open at www.RacetoRidSids.com.
The goal behind this event is to raise funds for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) research by a team of doctors at the University of Virginia Research Hospital.
The race is specifically in honor of Jackson T. Donohue who passed away on May 31, 2011. Jack’s parents, Brian and Tamara, joined the Playmates in Heaven Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding SIDS research and raising awareness on infant sleep safety. Every year in the U.S. more than 2,000 otherwise healthy babies die from SIDS. This is the leading cause of death for babies one month to one year of age. We hope that through our efforts we may help decrease the number of SIDS cases a year and spare other families this tragedy.
Major sponsors include: MetroStar Systems, Farrell Pediatrics, ManTech International Corporation, Shirley Mattam-Male REALTOR, Chick-Fil-A, Wegmans, Potomac River Running Store, DJ Kevin O’Donohue, GoJumps, among others.
