Alexandria — Del Ray cancelled its 16th annual Halloween Parade but held the haunted house decorating contest this past weekend. Ghoulish figures, pirates galore and graveyards popped up in numerous porches and yards. This year’s awards went to Dante’s Inferno at 210 East Monroe Ave., 24 East Del Ray for spider web screening on the front porch, 2930 Hickory for a spooky spectacle both day and night and 102 West Alexandria Avenue for a talking graveyard. A Hall of Fame Award was given to the pirates at 1407 Russell Road.
