As part of their nutrition study and community service requirements, Spring Hill second and third graders are growing healthy vegetables in the Raised Bed Outdoor Classroom and are donating them to the local food bank, SHARE. Cool weather veggies donated in May included lettuce, spinach, radishes, carrots, and parsnips. During recess they will be transplanting the warm weather seedlings that have been growing in greenhouses since February. With fingers crossed the plants will grow tomatoes, peppers and lots of herbs to share before school releases in June. The plants will continue to be tended over the summer with help from Spring Hill families. Veggies will be taken to SHARE weekly during the summer.
