Possible Serial Burglar Arrested

Police have charged a 20-year-old Sterling man with two counts of burglary and he remains a suspect in a series of at least 20 garage break-ins in Fairfax County. The suspected burglar was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, May 6, following two burglaries in the Monroe Manor community of the Reston Police District.

The string of burglaries began in mid-March when reports started coming into police that someone was breaking into garages, stealing items from unlocked cars, and entering the homes through unlocked doors. Apple electronic devices, alcohol, purses, and wallets were reported missing, although the wallets and purses were usually found near the crime scenes, minus any money.

The suspect is currently charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of attempted burglary, and possession of burglarious tools. The investigation is continuing and investigators say they anticipate more charges and possibly more arrests.
