First responders from across the city were honored at the 26th annual Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Valor Awards ceremony at the Crown Plaza Hotel April 26.
More than 300 attendees were on hand as 31 awards were presented, including Gold Medals to Firefighter Michael Chandler and Captain Phillip Perry. The two joined the elite ranks of Gold Medal winners for their heroism during the flooding of Sept. 8, 2011. Only 30 Gold medals have been awarded in the history of the awards.
