Chantilly Academy students competed in various hands-on skill and leadership competitions at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held in Hampton, Va. April 21.
SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization that consists of a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
Animal science student Alex Flevarakis and culinary arts student Sam Meono earned gold medals in their highly competitive skilled events and proved to be best in the state of Virginia. Meono will attend the SkillsUSA National Championships held in Kansas City, Mo., June 23-27, where more than 5,400 outstanding career and technical education students will compete.
