An Alexandria teenager faces numerous charges after leading Virginia State Police in a pursuit through Prince William County Monday, March 12. The 17-year-old male is being charged with reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, possession of a stolen vehicle and one felony count of eluding police.
At approximately 3 p.m., Trooper D.J. Presson stopped a westbound 2002 Mercedes for an HOV violation on Interstate 66 near Exit 44 in Prince William County. The Mercedes first stopped for the trooper but then took off continuing westbound on I-66 and getting off at Exit 44 for Route 234. The pursuit continued into the county and then double backed onto Interstate 66 west at the Wellington Road exit.
Once back on I-66, the Mercedes struck a Virginia State Police vehicle engaged in the pursuit. Two more state police vehicles were struck by the suspect vehicle and the pursuit came to an end. The driver was taken into custody.
The 17-year-old driver was not injured. None of the troopers involved in the pursuit was injured, either.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of Fairfax County Monday afternoon, March 12.
All lanes of Interstate 66 west were re-opened shortly before 4 p.m.
