Dorothy Moore Jones of Alexandria died on March 10, 2012. As an Army wife and mother, she accompanied her husband, Frank Phelps Jones (deceased) to assignments in the U.S., Canada and Europe, where she was active in volunteer programs for Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Gray Ladies, youth and handicap swimming programs and Project Read. Born in Chester, Penn. in 1925, she was a Powers model before marrying in 1947.
She later embraced her life in Alexandria; she loved working at the Why Not shop, was an active participant at Christ Church and enjoyed tennis at Army Navy Country Club.
Survived by her son Carter Jones (Stacy) of Arlington, Va., and daughter Page Frantz (Randy) of Charlotte, Vt. she was the devoted grandmother of Caroline Jones Simpson (Jeremy), Elizabeth Jones, Henry Frantz and Isabel "Minxie" Frantz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation.
