Fifty boats competed in the 23rd Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Accotink Park on June 3 as part of the Springfield Days Celebration. All shapes and sizes, the boats had to be made entirely of cardboard, only glued or taped at the seams. The judging panel included Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova, Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay and Braddock District Supervisor John Cook. Awards were given for: Pride of the Regatta, Best Costume, Team Spirit, Most Likely To Float and the Titanic.
