Centreville — U.S. Navy Ensign Sean A. Cruz of Clifton, son of Captain Paul A. Cruz, USN (Ret.) and Lieutenant Commander Tricia K. Cruz, USN (Ret.), graduated with merit from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. on May 29 and was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Navy.
Cruz successfully completed four years of academic, physical, and professional training, resulting in a bachelor of science degree with honors with a major in systems engineering.
As a graduate of the Naval Academy, Cruz completed a four-year, immersion program focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps in a military training environment emphasizing the development of leadership skills.
Cruz served as the drum major of the U.S. Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, among other leadership positions within the Brigade of Midshipmen. Following graduation, Cruz has been assigned to Charleston, S.C. where he will attend Nuclear Power school.
Cruz is a 2008 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Alexandria.
