The games were scheduled and called off three times because of rain, but on a sunny Friday, May 25, preschool students, teachers and family members got to "play ball" at Cherry Run Elementary School in Burke.
"Each spring, we hold a baseball game for our older preschoolers," said Cathy Brown, an early childhood special education teacher at the school. "The children in our program have a variety of disabilities, and this game is a wonderful experience for them."
Brown said the children dress in uniforms and move through stations - batting, fielding, pitching, sliding, base running and cheering.
"We end the day with a hot-dog picnic with the parents. It’s a great event, and everyone has a lot of fun," Brown said.
