Forum on Refuse Collection, Green Homes

The Jan. 10 Vienna At Your Service forum will feature a presentation on changes to the Town’s recycling, trash and special pickup program, as well as present information on Vienna Green Homes, the Community Enhancement Commission’s most recent sustainability initiative.

The Director of Public Works, Dennis Johnson and his staff will provide information and field questions regarding proposed changes to the Town’s refuse program, including how and when trash, recycling, bulk items and brush materials are collected. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide their comments and suggestions on the proposed program changes.

Members from the Community Enhancement Commission will present information on its newest initiative, Vienna Green Homes. The program, launched earlier this year, recognizes builders and owners who choose to make their homes more efficient through new construction or renovations to existing structures. Homeowners who retrofit their existing homes to achieve greater efficiency may also be recognized through the Vienna Green Homes program.

Attend Vienna At Your Service on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located in Town Hall, 127 Center Street, S. For more information, call the Mayor’s Office at 703-255-6311.

Prior to placing Christmas trees to the curb for collection, residents should ensure that all decorations are removed.
