Pipes, plaid and pageantry filled the streets of Old Town during the 42nd annual Scottish Walk Parade Dec. 1, the centerpiece of a weekend of holiday events that included a Holiday Marketplace, Designer Tour of Homes and Taste of Scotland cocktail reception.

More than 30,000 people lined the streets to watch this year's parade, which included over 140 Scottish clans, local dignitaries and costumed canines.

Sponsored by the Campagna Center, the St. Andrew's Society of Washington, D.C. and the Scottish Affairs Office, proceeds from the weekend events go directly to support the center's programs for Alexandria's children.
