— Friday, July 27, marked the 59th anniversary of the armistice agreement that brought an end to the fighting of the Korean War between North Korea, China, South Korea, and United Nations forces, which included the United States. The occasion was observed with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at Arlington National Cemetery. Later, there were speeches by members of both the South Korean and the United States government, as well as by American veterans of the Korean War.
