Delcan Corporation, a multi-disciplinary engineering, planning, management and technology consulting firm, has announced the winners of their 2010 scholarship awards. Delcan’s scholarship program was designed to recognize children of their employees who have demonstrated superior academic achievement and performed community service, and to assist the families with meeting the high costs associated with higher education.
Delcan has awarded Emma and Jack Jasper of Herndon a $1000 scholarship each. This is the third Delcan scholarship Emma has received.
* Emma Jasper is a fourth year college student at Marymount Manhattan College. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting. During the 2007 school year, she attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), a top drama school. She is especially interested in "High Comedy", a style of acting that features a plot filled with humorous characters and a witty comedic script. Emma also maintains a love for Shakespeare, which has led her to volunteer this summer with the Judith Shakespeare Company in New York City.
* Jack Jasper will be entering his first year at the College of William and Mary and will be pursuing a degree in Global Studies. Jack has an interest in different cultures and how they interrelate and interact with one another. It is his desire to work internationally in a profession that will allow him to travel the world. In high school, he achieved a 3.8 GPA while participating as a varsity athlete in cross-country, track and field. Jack volunteers his time as a running coach for young children.
Delcan’s scholarship program was established 28 years ago and since that time monetary awards have been given to approximately 500 students.
