The Lancers’ 2009 season was a roller coaster ride. Lee started the campaign with five consecutive wins before having their resolve tested with three straight losses by a combined 17 points. Lee returned to its successful ways, winning its next four before falling to Stonebridge in the region final. The Lancers’ win over T.C. Williams in the regular season finale extended the Titans’ playoff drought to 19 seasons.

Boys Basketball Coach: Michael Harris.

Baseball Coach: Brett McColley

Rival School: West Springfield.

Historic Achievements: The girls basketball program captured the 2008 Northern Regional championship. Track athlete Sean Holston [2007 graduate] won state championships in the 200, 300 and 400 during his senior year. He set the 300-meter state record with a time of 33.21 seconds, which was the second-fastest mark in U.S. history at the time. At the 2007 Nike Indoor National Championships he won national championships in the 200 and 400.

Quotable: Greg Lopez and Idreis Augustus "are the best out there — anywhere. The great thing about them is that they have the ability to make something out of nothing."

— Head football coach Rob Everett after the Lancers won their season opener against Wakefield
