Five Questions With Yorktown Junior Goalkeeper Kate Mountain

Q: What is the most difficult part of being a field hockey goalie?

A: The mindset. If I’m not pumped up, then I’m not on. I have to psyche myself up.

Q: You like to play the guitar and sing. How long have you been into music?

A: I’ve been singing since I was young. I used to do musical theater. I picked up guitar about two years ago and I write my music.

Q: Who is your favorite music artist?

A: Angel Taylor. She plays a lot of music that I like to play myself. She’s a smaller artist, not that many people know about her, and I like to listen to a lot of up-and-coming people, too.

Q: What location is the farthest from the Washington, D.C. metro area that you have traveled?

A: I went to France, England and Ireland together when I was 8 or 9. My cousins were living abroad in Paris.

Q: What are your plans for after high school?

A: I want to go to college. My top choices right now are NYU and UVa.
