Vote to Name New Cultural Center

Conceived as ‘an arts space for everyone,’ Arlington’s new Cultural Center will open on 10-10-10 in the original location of the Newseum at 1150 Wilson Blvd., in Rosslyn. NEW NAME Campaign 2010 offers the public the opportunity to choose their favorite of three candidates for the new name in a public voting process held between now and Thursday, Jan. 7.

Asked to rank their ‘First’ and ‘Second’ choices, voters may cast their ballot online via electronic vote at WWW.ARLINGTONARTS.ORG. Listed in no particular order, the three candidates are as follows:

* ARTISPHERE

* ORB

* ARTOPOLIS

The 54,000 square foot venue will be the location for dozens of weekly events, ranging from community-specific and Heritage Arts events, to regular live bands in the 3,000 square foot ballroom. It will house well established Arlington-based arts groups such as Synetic Theatre, Washington Shakespeare Company, and Bowen-McCauley Dance, as well as a restaurant, a ‘town square’ with access to free wireless internet access, and a new home for the County’s former Ellipse Arts Center gallery.

It’s easy to vote online by going to www.arlingtonarts.org !! However, for those without access to the internet, Ballot Boxes and paper ballots have been placed in numerous locations around Arlington. They are as follows:
