On Sunday, June 14, the Chantilly Youth Association Bearcats, a seventh-grade boys’ basketball team, won their Spring League championship at Herndon High School. The Bearcats were coached by Doug Sawitzky. Trailing by as many as 13 points, the Bearcats stormed back to grab a 46-45 win and finish the year at 11-2. On Sunday, June 14, the Chantilly Youth Association Mavericks, an eighth-grade boys’ basketball team, won their Spring League championship at Herndon High School. The Mavericks were coached by Doug Sawitzky. The Mavericks pulled off a 69-60 win in the championship game to finish the year with a perfect 16-0 mark. Last week, Westfield boys' soccer coach Tom Torres was named the Arlington Soccer Association's Girls' Coach of the Year for his work with the Arlington Travel Soccer Club (ATSC). Torres has worked with the ATSC for 15 years. He was presented the award by former Washington-Lee and current Washington Freedom player Sarah Senty. Torres was also the coach of the ATSC's successful Premier 92 U-17 boys' team this spring. This summer, he has taken over head coaching duties for the USL Premier Development League Royals, part of the Northern Virginia Football Club.

<b>Westfield Girls’ Hoops Camp</b>

The Westfield Athletic Booster Club will hold two sessions of girls’ basketball camps during June and July, with the first session running from June 22-26 (Elite Camp, ages 10-15) and July 6-10 (ages 8-15). Both camps will run from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Cost is $140. The staff will consist of head coach Pat Deegan and assistant coach Alice Andersen, as well as current college and high school players. <b>Westfield Basketball Camp</b>

The Westfield boys’ basketball program will hold a series of four camps throughout the end of June and all of July. The first four-day session runs from June 29 through July 3; the second runs from July 13-17; the third from July 20-24; the fourth from July 27-31. <b>Chantilly Basketball Camp</b>

The Chantilly boys’ basketball program will hold four consecutive weeks of basketball camps starting July 6 for boys ages 8 through 15. Cost is $150 and the sessions will be held at Chantilly High School. <b>Basketball Camp</b>

Chesterbrook Academy Elementary in Chantilly is hosting a Summer Fit Kids Basketball Camp for ages 4-7 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on June 22-26. Special emphasis is placed on basic fundamentals such as dribbling, shooting and passing. For more information or to register, call 703-397-0555.

<b>Floor Hockey Camp</b>

Get those future professional hockey players off to a good start with floor hockey. This camp for children ages 6-9 is aimed at developing physical skills and hand-eye coordination.
