Kate Reid, an 11-year-old sixth-grader at Cherry Run Elementary, was recently selected to be a student ambassador at the People to People World Leadership Forum. She will be attending the forum this month in Washington, D.C.
<b>Number of years in the community. </b>I have lived in Burke for 2 1/2 years. I have also lived in Charleston, S.C; Newport R.I.; Tacoma, Wash.; Kindsbach, Germany and Montgomery, Ala.
<b>Family. </b>I live with my Mom, a photographer, and my Dad, an Air Force pilot, and I have two younger brothers William, 9, and Stuart 6 1/2.
<b>Where do you go to school?</b> I am in sixth grade at Cherry Run Elementary School.
<b>Activities/interests/hobbies. </b>I like acting/drama, playing softball, playing the double French horn. I like to sing in the chorus, reading, sailing in Newport in the summer and girls’ overnight camp in Wisconsin. I also like “Dance, Dance Revolution” and hanging out with my friends.
<b>Favorite local restaurants. </b>I like the pizza at Spartans and going to Old Country Buffet, because I get to pick out what I want to eat.
<b>Favorite subject in school. </b> I like science the best because it’s interesting and fun, and social studies because I like learning about other countries.
<b>How did you get involved with the People to People World Leadership Forum? </b>My fourth grade teacher Mrs. [Dorothy] Stafford nominated me for the leadership forum because she is very familiar with program and thought I would be a good candidate. I am really excited about People to People.
<b>What do you want to do when you get older? </b>I would like to be an actress or a fifth grade teacher. I think it would be fun.
<b>What person do you admire most? </b>My Mom, because she is very helpful and nice.
