The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership has a new Board of Directors and the election of new leadership. Allison Cryor DiNardo, president of Carroll Wireless, was elected chair. Lauren Garcia, co-founder of the Potomac Management Group, Inc. (PMG), an Alexandria Homeland Security government contractor, will serve as vice chair of the AEDP Board of Directors. Charles Collins, co-founder of BriarTek, Inc., an Alexandria technology company that researches, designs and manufactures specialty electronics, will serve as treasurer. All three members of the executive committee are residents of the City of Alexandria.

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors made the following appointment to the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond’s Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1, 2009. Linda D. Rabbitt, chief executive officer, Rand Construction Corporation, Alexandria, was appointed as a Class C Director of the Richmond board for a three-year term.
Alexandria residents Sally B. Hurme and Arthur K. Hurme have been elected to the newly-formed Advisory Board for The Future of Newcomb College, Inc., a nonprofit organization of donors and supporters dedicated to saving Newcomb College, Tulane University's former women's college.
Sally Hurme, an attorney and 1968 Newcomb College graduate, is a consumer affairs expert with AARP, where she has worked for 17 years. Arthur Hurme is retired after a 38-year career with the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers.
Army Capt. Kathryn K. Whigham is currently deployed in Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Whigham, a pediatrician with more than three years of military service, is regularly assigned to the Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. She is the daughter of James and In Soon Whigham of Alexandria. The captain graduated in 1996 from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and received a bachelor's degree in 2000 from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. She earned a medical degree in 2005 from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.
Sara Kepple, daughter of Alan Kepple of Alexandria, was awarded first-year honors at Sweet Briar College for outstanding academic achievement for the 2008 fall semester. Kepple is double majoring in psychology and biology.
The Washington Metropolitan Chapter of Community Associations Institute (WMCCAI) named Jeremy R. Moss, an associate with MercerTrigiani law firm, a 2008 Rising Star. Moss received his law degree in 2007 from the Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University of America and is a 2003 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
