McLean Parade To Ring In Season

McLean WinterFest organizers are putting the final touches on McLean’s community parade, which will take place Sunday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. in the 1300 block of Chain Bridge Road. The parade will start at Sun Trust Bank and march down Chain Bridge Road to the annual lighting of the community tree. Calling the parade will be WUSA’s Emmy-winning journalist Peggy Fox. Parade participants are encouraged to check the schedule of events on the parade web site at www.mcleanwinterfest.org.

In promoting the parade, steering committee members are reaching out to local businesses and residents to help Share of McLean fill its pantry and store in preparation for the holidays. Share is an all-volunteer organization serving local families who have fallen on hard times through crisis intervention, food, clothing and furniture donations, and other programs to help the local community.

The McLean High School Key Club jumped at the chance to help by decorating boxes to collect unwrapped toys and gifts for Share recipients. Donation boxes can be found at Cardinal Banks, Star Nut Gourmet, Salon Michel, Salona Jewelers, Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, Tree Top Toys, McLean Hardware, Giant, McLean Cleaners, Anderson Road Safeway, J. Gilbert’s and Langley Photo & Digital. Those who wish to donate gift cards or checks made out to Share, Inc., can send them to McLean WinterFest, 1616 Anderson Road, McLean, VA 22101.

Businesses and residents who would like to contribute to the parade can mail checks to the same address.
