<cal2>Annual Doggie Day Swim. 4–7 p.m. At the Old Town Pool, 1609 Cameron Street, Alexandria. A celebration of the end of the pool season for dogs and their owners. Old Town Pool will remain open for dogs only to swim and play. There is a nominal fee for dog admission. Proceeds benefit the Alexandria Welfare League. Note: Bring your own doggie dish for water. Dog handlers must be 16 or older. All dogs should wear current vaccination tags or proof of vaccinations must be shown. Proceeds benefit the Alexandria Animal Welfare League. Call 703-519-2160.

<cal2>Dog Days. Looking for a great way to beat the heat with your best friend? The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority is pleased to announce the return of Dog Days! Visit any NVRPA water park on Saturday, Sept. 12 and let your best friend swim to their hearts' content from noon to 4 p.m. This year's event is bigger and better than ever, with all five NVRPA water parks open for this great dog swim. Participating parks include Great Waves at Cameron Run Regional Park in Alexandria, Upton Hill Regional Park in Arlington, Atlantis Water Park in Centreville, Downpour Water Park at Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling, and Pirate's Cove at Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton. Admission is just $5 per dog. Dog owners must fill out a liability waiver and your dog must have a current license and rabies vaccination. Visit www.nvrpa.org.
