Saturday evening the Friends of Fort Ward hosted a fete honoring the City of Alexandria for its past and present preservation at the museum and park on West Braddock Road. Entertainment was provided by Douglas Jimerson and the Civil War Comrades. Bill Schreiner of the Friends of Fort Ward presented the City of Alexandria with the General John G. Barnard Defenses of Washington Preservation Award. Mayor Bill Euille accepted the award on behalf of the City.
